Little Kickers - Professionally Managed

Little Kickers are professionally managed by a dedicated Director of In-House, Katelin Gannon.  Katelin is a former Central College coach and Pella Premier coach and her focus is now our 5U-8U Little Kickers players, coaches, and parents.  Our Director of In-House organizes all practices and games and trains volunteer Assistant Coaches for how to help during those practices and games.  Learn from the best!

  • Age Groups
    • 5U-6U Coed - play 4v4
    • 7U-8U Girls - play 4v4
    • 7U-8U Boys - play 4v4
  • Our goal is to schedule 5U-6U games and 7U-8U games at different time slots so families with children in both age groups can enjoy the entire games of both!
  • As per US Soccer, recommended roster size of 6 is standard to play 4v4, which means 4 players vs. 4 players with no goalkeeper. 4v4 soccer is meant to be played in a less structured environment in order to maximize fun and participation; thus, players 8U and younger should play without formal teams and rosters.  Conducting play through in-house programs with flexible and fluid teams is the best approach.

Teams for Games

  • Players will be randomly assigned to new team every game day, ideally 5-6 players per team.
  • Parent volunteers will be needed to help with group practices and games.  The Director of In-House will help all coach volunteers learn how to help at practices and games.
  • No scores are kept for games - no pressure - lots of do-overs - lots of encouragement.
  • Ball size 3

  • Practices normally begin two weeks prior to the first game weekend.
  • 5U-6U Coed practice for 45 minutes once a week and parent/guardian has a choice of Tuesday or Thursday.
  • 7U-8U Boys and Girls practice separate groups, in one hour sessions, twice a week - usually Tuesday and Thursday,
  • Days and times for Spring 2020 practices will be listed at the top of the page once final. They are based on numbers within each age group who register.

Little Kickers Game Shirts

  • All Little Kickers for 5U-8U will wear the same t-shirt as their game shirt and pennies will be used to distinguish one team from another during games.  The same shirt will be worn from season to season and a uniform will not need to be purchased until your player is 9U.
  • Instructions will be posted in this section and emailed to those registered for how to order a Little Kickers shirt if needed.
  • Ordering instructions for the NEW RUSH Little Kickers shirts will be on this webpage at a later date.
